Readers’ Advisory

Welcome to the Reader’s Advisory Master List. Here you will find every Reader’s Advisory post I’ve ever written. I’ve set it up this way in hopes that this will make it easier for those of you who only want to read book reviews. I will caution you, there are spoilers.

The rating scale I’ve used throughout the posts was modified from the one used by Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA), a publication for young adult librarians.

Quality
5Q–Hard to imagine it being better written.
4Q–Better than most, marred by occasional lapses.
3Q–Readable, without serious defects.
2Q–Better editing or work by the author might have warranted a 3Q.
1Q–Hard to understand how it got published, except in relation to its P rating (and not even then sometimes).
Popularity
5P–Every reader of this genre/author wanted it yesterday.
4P–Broad general or genre appeal.
3P–Read it because the book club was reading it/They made a movie about it so I need to read it
2P– Will appeal with pushing.
1P– Special Interest Only
